On Monday we got given our scripts on our first assessment based on the archers. I was reading the part of Robert Snell with Amy reading Lynda Snell. Robert Snell was born in 1943 and was employed as a computer expert. The Archers is one of the worlds longest soap operas. The Archers has aired over 18,400 episodes. Five pilot episodes were aired in 1950 and the first episode was broadcast nationally on 1 January 1951.

Dislikes - Feng shui - Lynda's craze for it used to drive him to distraction
Highs - The birth of grandson Oscar
Lows - The enforced winding up of his software company
The recording we did I thought went well, however I didn't put any accent on which I should have done to portray Robert Snell. Also I had to step in with another group as I was meant to be playing someone who was far away, so I raised my pitch and sat further away but spoke louder which came across as I was further than I actually was.

Evaluation:
As I wanted to audition for the inspector I couldn't prepare very well as the audition script we got given had 1 line of the inspector. On the day of the auditions I got given the full script to read through and to find a part of the inspector that I wanted to read. I struggled to find out how to play the character of the inspector so from past experiences of inspectors I tried to make him/her seem comical. Also because I knew certain characters like Sam had a low energy I wanted to create a contrasting character. During my audition I had Tamsin play the assistant as the assistant and inspector work together in the play. In the audition my pace of speech was at the correct pace I was hoping for, a natural pace slowing down and speeding up at certain points. My tone was a sarcastic tone however I don't think I portrayed the sarcasm well enough for it to be understood. Also I tried to show confidence through pauses to exaggerate the what I thought were humorous moments to convey the inspectors personality. One of my weaknesses which I spotted was that I do this step thing as I'm talking, I think it was because of nerves but I was getting frustrated at myself when watching the video back. Also when Rachel told me to do the scene whilst packing, I don't know why but I completely ignored it which made the scene more boring. My background research was good either as I was struggling and pausing with most of the answer s I gave as I wasn't too sure on why I thought the inspector was comedic. In the scene I felt if I didn't have much energy and didn't portray the character as I wanted to, to improve this for the next audition I will over exaggerate the character I'm trying to imply. To improve the whole audition in the future I will not let my confidence and nerves stop how much I exaggerated on the character and how I portray the character. Also I will make sure that I have enough dialogue of the character I want to audition for.

Blocking of hope springs - Act 1 scenes 1 - 4
What went well: I think that my diction in this act was good as I wasn't supposed to be pronouncing all the words correctly or with the correct diction. Also I feel that my pace is correct for my character as I'm speaking at a steady pace with some pauses.
Even better if: In my monologue at the beginning I feel that I could put more expression into my voice to make it more interesting raising the pitch of my voice towards the end of sentences. Also I feel that I could project my voice louder as I'm too quiet.
Teamwork/ Leadership: Together we have been working well as a group and helping each other with what words to put emphasis on and characterisation on our characters.

Blocking the rest of act 1
During blocking the rest of act 1 I felt like I was more into my character as I had read over the script a few more times, I felt I could portray my character through my voice a lot easier. During the blocking I feel like if one actor put more energy into certain lines with their voice, others afterwards with the follow up lines matched the energy of the previous lines. Together, we need to improve our energy in our voices.

Blocking act 2
What went well: Because I knew my lines at this point I could focus clearly on my vocal adding more expression and increased my projection. I feel that I was more into the character with correct pitch and emphasis on some of the sentences.
Even better if: I feel as if my energy in my voice and also movement has dropped this week, also my pace is too fast as I feel I'm getting too confident with some of my lines. Also towards the end of act 2 I stuttered on my lines a bit as I hadn't completely remembered them.
Team work/Leadership: In some of the scenes our groups blocking was sort of left to us allowing us to have freedom of moving around. I help a student with emphasis on certain words as well.

In this lesson we run over scenes that we hadn't blocked fully or scenes that we were clearly not confident on, on the blocking and the lines and vocal techniques that we were using.
What went well: In this week, running over the scenes helped me to refine many of the expression, projection and diction problems I was having. For example, in the monologue scene I added more emphasis on some of my words putting more energy into the scene as well.
Even better if: I feel as if my pace is still too fast in most of the act 1 scenes as I am confident with them however, I also felt as if my pitch and tone is dropping when on some words it should be uplifting.
27/11/17
In this lesson we re-blocked the monologue and re-blocked the parent scenes.
What went well: During the re-blocking of the monologue I completely slowed the pace of my monologue down and increased the pauses also putting more emphasis on certain words. My diction and emotion during the monologue improved massively as when doing the monologue we are now moving towards and around the front of the stage.
Even Better if: I felt as though I could have projected more throughout the re-blocking as I was told to increase my volume and speak up. I didn't feel like the monologue, for me had enough energy, I should increase how much energy I use for the monologue in my voice as it does open the play.
Teamwork/Leadership: In re-blocking the parent scene, me, Jamie and Amy had to teach the whole group our re-blocked scene.
