My career aspiration is either to perform in the west end or to become an MD ( Musical Director).
To be in the west end I would have to be able to dance, sing and act to a high quality.
With the dance side of the west end, depending on the show and part of the show I would be looking to do depends what dance type I would have to excel at. For example, in 42nd street I would have to excel in tap dance ass that's what the show is made up from.
With the singing side, depending on the part in the show depends on the range of my voice, I would need a flexible range and would have to adapt to certain roles. usually the look for a tenor to be able to sing to a top C in our vocal range.
For a musical director, I would need to have experience in ensemble and solo singing, Also to be a specialist in singing and possibly the piano.
A musical director has to have training or skills in harmonies in singing, orchestration for the pit orchestra and it would be helpful to have training in being an accompanist on the piano.
A vocal coach in the west end instructs singers on how to improve their singing technique, take care of and develop their voice, and prepare for the performance of a song or other work. Vocal coaches are used in both Classical music and in popular music styles such as rock and gospel. While some vocal coaches provide a range of instruction on singing techniques, others specialize in areas such as breathing techniques or diction and pronunciation.
