Research into living costs and Income.
I will research into: utility cost, rent/mortgage, phone/pc/T.V, food cost, council tax and travel cost to find out how much I would need to earn to live a sustainable lifestyle.
Firstly I researched into living costs around my area and this was one of the cheapest places I found at 115 pounds a week averaging around £5980 a year.
With the utility cost of the place I would be staying I found and average price for 1 person to see what i would be paying monthly and yearly.
So for the water bill, gas and electric, all together a month, I would be paying £88.33 however for the year I would be paying around £1,059.87, this gives me a good estimate of what I would be paying for my water, gas and electric.
After I researched utility cost I researched into the internet, and phone cost. I didn't need the best internet but I do need unlimited texts and calls.
I found an average on broadband, T.V licence, phone bills and gas electric and water, this helps me to work out how much i will be spending because it has the average per month for one person. Per month for all of these, is £194.92 which is the cheapest average of all i could find. I times this by 12 and found that would be paying £2,339.04 a year.
For travel to London it would cost me around £10 to travel up to long however i wouldn't e going everyday and if i was there for 2 weeks i would rent out a different apartment in London or closer to London so that i don't waste money. but on average i think it will cost about £1000 a year.
I worked out the average food spend in my household of 3 people, being £630 so i divided that by 3 which gave me an average of £210 per person a month (including toiletries). I times 210 by 12 and got an average for the year which was £2,520 for all food and cleaning.
i found these council tax bands, as a musical director i would be earring around £40,000 to £60,000 a year which pus me in either band B or Band C, with earning Around £40,000 to £52,000 i would be taxed £2,518.34 which the minimum income i would be taking is £37,381.66 a year which is enough to live on however if i was ever struggling i would be able to take on some vocal coaching work for extra money for a more sustainable lifestyle.
